P & Z Approves New Floating "Municipal Use" Zone
At their February 21st meeting, the Planning & Zoning Commission approved the Darien Library's request for a new floating “Municipal Use” zone. The zone applies to town-owned property (including the schools) as well as certain quasi-municipal uses that provide services that would otherwise need to be provided by the Town. The specific uses cited in the Commission's findings are the Library, the volunteer fire departments, and Post 53 EMS. The new zone, if approved for the new library site, will provide greater flexibility in building height, setbacks and parking requirements as the Planning and Zoning Commission deems appropriate for the library building and for other proposed uses and sites on a case-by-case basis.
