Heat Advisory

The Town of Darien is advising its residents to avoid activities that are too strenuous and to slow down for the duration of this heat wave. We are also asking residents to comply with the voluntary request from the DPUC to conserve energy.

Thursday, August 3, 2006 Darien the Town Hall Auditorium will be set up for use as a Cooling Center from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Red Cross Volunteers will be available to distribute snacks etc. The Red Cross is asking that people bring a book, cards or games to keep them busy. Movies will be available.

The Darien Senior Activities Center will be open until 3:00 p.m. Any senior who would like to have lunch at the Senior Center please call 655-1705 to make reservations.

Gallivant is available to residents in need of transportation please call 656-7384.

The Social Services Department has called at risk residents today and will call again tomorrow to ensure their safety.

If a resident needs shelter, please call the routine business phone number 662-5300 at the Darien Police Department. In case of any emergency please call 911.
