Emergency Preparedness Begins Today
Emergency Preparedness Week is a time for residents to educate themselves about how to deal with various types of disasters. Businesses and organizations throughout town are providing information and the Darien Library is hosting an Emergency Preparedness display. There will also be special programs during the week.
This week, all homes in Darien will receive copies of "The Town of Darien Preparedness Guide: Things You Need to Know and Do in An Emergency" (thanks to the Stamford Advocate). The Preparedness Guide is also available on the Darien Red Cross website. The Guide contains information about how to handle common emergencies such as storms and extreme temperatures as well as disasters such as terrorism and pandemic flu.
Tropical Storm Ernesto reminded us of the need to be ready for severe storms and other emergencies. Take time this week to discuss how you will prepare for an emergency with your family, neighbors, and co-workers.
Emergency Preparedness Week is sponsored by the Town of Darien, Darien Red Cross, the Community Fund of Darien, and Darien EMS- Post 53.
