October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

RibbonDay.jpg

On Sunday, volunteers, including Darien Domestic Violence Task Force members and many First Responders, gathered to hang purple ribbons throughout town in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This year, they hung 97 ribbons--each ribbon represents a domestic disturbance call to the Darien Police Department in FY 2005/2006.

This Thursday, October 5 at 11 a.m. at Town Hall, FIrst Selectwoman Evonne Klein will read a proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awarenss Month. Check the blog on Thursday for photos and coverage of this important event.

If you or someone you know is being abused, call the Domestic Violence Crisis Center at 1-800-774-2900.
