Word of the day: Diluvial
Definition: Of or belonging to a deluge or flood (Oxford English Dictionary, 2nd edition, 1989, available online)
There's no other word for today as Darien residents pump their basements, pick up tree limbs, and repair fences after yesterday's severe Nor'easter.
At the Library, I overheard one woman tell her friend "I've lived here over thirty years and before yesterday I never had water in my basement". One of the Library's Front Desk staff who lives on Mystic Lane said the water pulled up the flagstones in her backyard and created deep ravines in her gravel driveway.
The Town's emergency operations center has been activated.

The Meeting is set for May 2 at 7pm in the Program Room (downstairs) of the Darien Library.
