Great community resources
The Darien/Stamford Red Cross chapter has two great programs to help with your medical needs. If you need medical equipment, including wheelchairs, canes, commodes, crutches, walkers, or shower chairs, you may rent it "free of charge" from their Medical Loan Closet. The Loan Closet is located in the Red Cross' Stamford office.
If you need a ride to a medical appointment, the Red Cross' Medical Transportation drivers can drive you.
If you have spare time, consider volunteering to be a Medical Transportation driver. The Red Cross is always looking for more drivers.
