Daily flag status alerts available online

2008 is shaping up to be quite a patriotic year for Americans; we'll be cheering on our nation's athletes in just a few weeks at the long-awaited summer Olympics, and in November, we'll turn out in droves to vote in a historic presidential election. Tomorrow, we'll all be celebrating our nation's 232nd birthday with barbecues, fireworks, family, friends, and lots of hope that with our vested and continued interests in protecting the environment, our country will be around for many, many more birthdays to come.

And with the American flag as the ultimate symbol of our country's existence, there's no better time than now to remind you that the State of Connecticut lists the status of both the national and state flags on its website. Click here and bookmark the page so that you can easily check whether the flags should be flown at full or half-staff.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
